
No. 15/14 Marquette Pushes Past Georgetown in 72-62 Victory

Hiedeman and Davenport each record double-doubles
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The No. 15/14 Marquette women's basketball team showed its toughness in overcoming a 14-point deficit to defeat Georgetown, 72-62 on Sunday afternoon at McDonough Arena to remain undefeated in BIG EAST action.
Natisha Hiedeman led the Golden Eagles (14-3, 5-0) with her third double-double of the season, tallying 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Erika Davenport recorded her second straight and fourth double-double of the season totaling 10 points and 10 boards before fouling out in the fourth quarter. Also in double figures for MU was Danielle King and Selena Lott scoring 16 and 12 points, respectively.
Marquette finished the game shooting 36.5 percent (19-52) from the floor taking 17 fast break points and 18 points off 13 Georgetown (8-9, 2-4) turnovers.
The Golden Eagles started slow scoring just a season-low seven points in the first quarter but managed to reverse a 14-point Georgetown lead with 6:17 remaining in the second quarter and tied the game at 32 points heading into the break.
Dorothy Adomako led a trio of Hoyas in double figures with 21 points and six rebounds, while Dionna White recorded 14 points. Georgetown entered the game holding opponents to just 60.2 points per game and this was just the third game this season that the Hoyas have allowed an opposing squad to score over 70 points.
Marquette will return home for two games and host Seton Hall (Jan. 18) and St. John's (Jan. 20) next weekend at the Al McGuire Center. Friday's game time against the Pirates is set for 11:30 a.m. CT as the Golden Eagles will host their annual MPS Day.
