Hiedeman and Wilborn each record over 20 points
MILWAUKEE – The No. 14 Marquette women's basketball team rolled past Seton Hall, 96-60, in front of a packed crowd for the program's annual MPS Day on Friday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center.
Natisha Hiedeman led Marquette (15-3, 6-0) with 28 points and nine rebounds, while Amani Wilborn equaled her highest point total of the season with 20 tallies. Erika Davenport poured in 12 points and 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double this season and third consecutive, while Danielle King scored 12 points, tying her season high with eight rebounds also dishing out six assists.
It's the third game this season with two-or-more Marquette players recording at least 20 points.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to an 8-0 run to start the game and followed up with a 16-1 run over a three-minute span. The stretches propelled Marquette to an early double-digit lead and totaled for 35 points in the first 10 minutes alone, the most in a frame this season.
In the first half, Marquette drained 11 three-pointers and shot 55 percent (11-for-20) from distance. The Golden Eagles owned a 25-point edge over the Pirates (11-6, 3-3) heading into the break, 56-31.
The Golden Eagles' potent offense continued through the second half while simultaneously holding the BIG EAST's third highest scoring offense (78.6 points per game) to just nine points in the final quarter and 60 points overall.
Seton Hall was led by Victoria Cardaci with 16 points.
The Golden Eagles will take on St. John's on Sunday. Tip is set for 2 p.m. CT and will air live on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
