The Golden Eagles and the Bulldogs are the two teams atop the league standings
INDIANAPOLIS – It's a showdown of the two squads atop the BIG EAST standings as the No. 10/9 Marquette women's basketball team travels to Butler on Sunday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles (17-3, 8-0) most recently rolled past Xavier, 90-44, in Cincinnati on Friday night. Allazia Blockton tallied her 2,000th career point near the end of the third quarter, marking the only Marquette player – male or female – to achieve the mark.
The Golden Eagles were led by Erika Davenport's double- double performance (19 rebounds and 18 points), while Davenport and Blockton were also joined by three other double-digit scorers.
Butler (16-2, 6-1) most recently fell to Marquette' BIG EAST preseason co-favorite DePaul last night in Indianapolis, 86-78.
Marquette finishes out a three-game road swing at nearby Chicago on Sunday, Feb. 3 , to take on the preseason co-favorite DePaul at 1 p.m. CT.

Butler (16-3, 6-2): The Bulldogs opened up the BIG EAST season 5-0 before suffering their first conference loss to Providence in triple overtime on Jan. 18. Most recently, Butler fell to DePaul on Friday night to mark, its first home loss at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Butler is led by Whitney Jennings averaging 14.9 points per game. Michelle Weaver leads the league in steals with 70.
