Tyler Leach and Matt Murlick lead MU after 18 holes in Hawaii

EWA BEACH, Hawaii – The Marquette University men's golf team is seventh, three strokes out of third, with a 2-under-par 286 through 18 holes at the Hoakalei Country Club Invitational in 'Ewa Beach, Hawaii.
Sophomore Tyler Leach and senior Matt Murlick lead the way for the Golden Eagles after posting a 1-under 71 in the opening round. Leach opened his day with bogeys on holes 14-16 and ended it with three straight birdies on 11-13 to sit under par for the day.
Murlick started the round on No. 15 and posted birdies on holes 18 and 13 along with a bogey on the par-four fifth hole. He and Leach are tied for 25th in the tournament.
Junior Hunter Eichhorn and freshman Aidan Lafferty each recorded even par 72s and Eichhorn was as high as third on the leaderboard at four-strokes-under par through 10 holes.
Freshman Josh Robinson notched a 3-over 75 playing as MU's No. 5, while classmate Bhoom Sima-Aree finished his round at even par playing as an individual.
Ole Miss leads the field at 18-under par (270) and East Tennessee State is second at 12-under (276). MU is one stroke behind Louisville and Loyola Marymount, who are tied for fifth, and three strokes out from Cal State Fullerton in third place at 5-under (283).
Play in the three-day tournament resumes with shotgun start at 1 p.m. Central time on Tuesday.
