Lesley Foe clinches the win for the Golden Eagles
MILWAUKEE-- The Marquette women's tennis team opened a two-match weekend with a 6-1 victory over Drake on Friday night at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
After dropping the doubles point, MU (5-2) cruised in singles action wo pull out the victory with decisive play. Fleur Eggink took a 6-0, 7-5 win at the top positions, while Natalija Popovic stormed back after dropping the first set for a 2-6, 7-5, 6-0 win at the No. 2 position. Milica Novakovic also fought through for her victory with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win as Alexandrina Chinikova picked up her victory on the No. 4 court. Elisabeth Desmarais earned her first victory in dual play with a 6-7, 6-4, 6-0 win and Lesley Foe scored the match-clinching point winning at No. 5.
The Golden Eagles are back in action on Sunday, Feb. 17 hosting Big Ten foe, Iowa with first-serve at 10 a.m. CT.
