
Eichhorn's 72 Paces Marquette in PRC Opening Round

Marquette (T-8) opened its spring season with a 294 on day one at the Puerto Rico Classic
RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico --Â Hunter Eichhorn's 72 paced Marquette to a 6-over-par (294) start, tied for eighth place after Sunday's opening round at the Puerto Rico Classic, hosted by Purdue at Rio Mar C.C.
Eichhorn (T-23) made the most of his opportunities on the back nine, shooting 3-under-par with four birdie makes. He carded a total of six birdies in his first competitive round of the spring season on the Par 72, 6,902-yard course, entering Monday's second round at five shots off the lead (Stephen Franken, NC State - 5-under-par).
Just four shots separate seventh-place Purdue at 293 and 14th-place Maryland at 297 - 15 teams and 75 individuals are competing in the 27th annual PRC, an event featuring eight top-50 teams in the latest Golfstat rankings. Â NC State is the round one leader at 280 (8-under-par).Â
Monday's second round begins with an 8 a.m. Eastern shotgun start - Marquette's second round playing partners are Purdue and East Carolina.
