
No. 13/12 Marquette Closes the Regular Season on the Road

MILWAUKEE-- The No. 13/12 Marquette women's basketball team is set for its final regular season weekend with a pair of road games beginning on Friday, March 1 as the Golden Eagles battle the Creighton Bluejays with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT.
The Golden Eagles (23-5, 14-2) head into their second-to-last game of the regular season sitting atop the BIG EAST after besting Xavier 79-53 on Sunday afternoon. Five Marquette players scoring in double digits helped the offensive assault which resulted in the team clinching the No. 1 seed in the BIG EAST tournament as well as a guaranteed share of the regular season title, for the second consecutive season. One more win will give the Golden Eagles the outright regular season crown.
Natisha Hiedeman averages 6.0 rebounds per contest, second on the squad, while. another player to keep an eye on is Selena Lott, who is shooting the ball at a 51.4 percent clip in 24.3 minutes per game. The sophomore guard is averaging 6.4 points per game and has taken on a high profile role in her second season wearing Blue and Gold.
OPPONENT
CREIGHTON (13-14, 7-9 BIG EAST): The Bluejays are coming off a two-game win streak after defeating Providence 73-64. Two players, Audrey Faber and Temi Carda combined for 25 points, going 8-10 from the free throw line, while senior guard Jade Owens added nine points of her own by hitting three shots from deep.
On the season, Creighton has held opponents to just 66.4 points per game, while Marquette scores an average of 84.5 points per game, ranking fourth in the country. The Bluejays are led by senior forward Audrey Faber who shoots 45.7 percent and scores 16.6 points per game, as well as leads the team in blocks and assists.
THE SERIES
Marquette trails the all-time series with Creighton, 11-6, but has won four of the past five meetings, including an 85-67 win in Milwaukee on Dec. 31, 2018.
