Hunter Eichhorn leads Windon Memorial after two rounds

The reigning BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week shot 65-66 to open play at Conway Farms
LAKE FOREST, Illinois – Marquette University junior Hunter Eichhorn shot an 11-under par 131 (65-66) at Conway Farms Golf Club on Monday to lead the field at the Windon Memorial Classic in Lake Forest, Illinois.
The defending tournament champion Golden Eagles (282-287—569) sit nine strokes back of Notre Dame in fourth place following the first two rounds in suburban Chicago.
Starting the day on hole No. 5, Eichhorn recorded three pars before reeling off seven birdies in his next 10 holes. His 65-stroke first round is two off the tournament record and tied for the fifth-best round in tournament history.
Eichhorn followed it up with a bogey-free second round score of 66 (5-under), setting him up for a run at the tournament record score of 205 on Tuesday. The Carney, Michigan native can tie the tournament record with a 3-over par 74 on Tuesday and break it with a 73 or better.
He sits six strokes up on Notre Dame's Hunter Ostrom (70-67—137) and Mississippi's Sarut Vongchaisit (68-69—137) entering Tuesday's final round.
Sophomore Tyler Leach (72-72—144) sits tied for 23rd after posting consecutive 72-stroke rounds on Monday. He carded five birdies in his first 13 holes before notching double bogeys on the third and fourth holes after beginning his round on the sixth tee.
Matt Murlick (T-32, 71-74—145) of nearby Winnetka, Illinois shot an even par 71 in the first round with three birdies offsetting three bogeys and was 3-over in the second.
Freshman Josh Robinson (75-75—151) carded a pair of birdies in each of his first two rounds playing as part of the MU lineup, and sits one stroke back of fellow freshman Bhoom Sima-Aree (74-75—149).
Robinson will begin the third round at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday on the first tee for the Golden Eagles, who are grouped with Kansas and Northwestern for the final round.
