Spingola's 20 points leads four in double digits
CINCINNATI, Ohio— Four Golden Eagles recorded double digits as the Marquette women's basketball team got back to its winning ways with an 80-60 victory over Xavier on Sunday afternoon.
Isabelle Spingola's season-high 20 points led MU (13-5, 4-3) as Selena Lott tallied 14 points, Camryn Taylor recorded 13 and Altia Anderson notched her first career double-double with 10 points and a career-best 14 rebounds.
For the 15th time this season, the Golden Eagles connected on over 40 percent shooting with a 43.9 (29-66) mark against the Musketeers (2-16, 1-6) and dished out 25 assists, which was the eighth time this year with at least 20 assists.
Marquette put together a complete game and held a lead from start to finish with the biggest lead coming at the 6:52 mark in the fourth quarter at 33 points.
The Golden Eagles allowed just 16 points in the first half, the fewest allowed this season and held a 33-16 lead at the break. Spingola had 11 points, including three from long range.
Xavier was led by A'riana Gray with 13 points, under her season average of 18, and was the only Musketeer in double digits.
UP NEXT: Marquette returns home for the first of four straight games at the Al McGuire Center. The Golden Eagles host Georgetown on Friday, Jan. 24 at 11:30 a.m. CT.
