All-Time Series Dates Back To 1917
Marquette's all-time series with Wisconsin dates back to 1917, with the first meeting coming in just MU's second season of competition.
Wisconsin owns a 68-58 edge in the previous matchups, with each squad enjoying an extended run of success at various points in the series. Marquette's best streak came between 1969 and 1984 when the team claimed 15-straight wins and 19-of-21 overall.
MU has met Wisconsin and DePaul more times (126) than any other opponent in program history.
The Golden Eagles have claimed three of the last five overall outings in the annual home-and-home series, including the only previous meeting in Fiserv Forum on Dec. 8, 2018 in overtime.
Cain Is Double Able In Latest Outing
Senior forward Jamal Cain competed in his 96th career game for the Golden Eagles on Tuesday night and collected his first career double-double against Oklahoma State.
The Pontiac, Michigan, native finished with 13 points and a career-best 13 boards in 33 minutes of action. Six of his caroms came at the offensive end and he also found time to chip in two assists and a steal.
Prior to Tuesday, Cain had only grabbed eight-or-more rebounds on four occasions, including a previous personal-best 12 boards against Jacksonville on Dec. 4, 2019.
Lewis Grabbing Boards Like Its His Job
Freshman forward Justin Lewis has been impressive offensively early in 2020-21, chipping in 8.7 points per game while shooting 53.3 percent from the field. Equally as important has been his work on the boards, where he has made an impact on both ends of the court.
The Baltimore, Maryland, native is averaging 8.3 rebounds per outing in just 19.3 minutes per night and in Tuesday's game against Oklahoma State he finished with a personal-best 13 boards (12 in the first half). He is second on the team in offensive rebounds (3.0 orpg.) and has reached double figures in rebounds in 2-of-3 outings.
