
MU Falls in 4-3 Battle to Michigan State

The Golden Eagles return to action Sunday against Wisconsin
MILWAUKEE-- The Marquette women's tennis team battled, but came up just short as the Golden Eagles lost a narrow 4-3 decision to Michigan State on Saturday at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
MU fought hard in doubles as Lesley Foe and Milica Novakovic earned a 6-4 win at the No. 3 spot, but the Spartans won the point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 positions.
In singles play, Elisabeth Desmarais took a smooth 6-4, 6-4 decision at the No. 6 positions, while Fleur Eggink earned her third consecutive win at No. 1 singles holding on to take a 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 victory. Natalija Popovic scored a point as she fought back to force a third set and win, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The Golden Eagles have a short turnaround and host in-state rival Wisconsin on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT. Free pizza will be given out to students in attendance.
