FS1 features television broadcast
The Marquette University men's basketball team (6-6, 2-4 BIG EAST) returns to action Tuesday night at 8 p.m. CT when the team hosts Providence (7-5, 3-3 BIG EAST) at Fiserv Forum.  FS1 will feature the television broadcast, with Lisa Byington (play-by-play) and Stephen Bardo (analyst) calling the action.  Following Tuesday's outing, the Golden Eagles will travel to St. John's on Jan. 16 before returning home for a pair of BIG EAST matchups.
Series With Friars Full Of Memories
  Â
The all-time series between Marquette and Providence consists of 30 games (Marquette leads 19-11) and includes a number of memorable contests for MU fans.
  Â
The two programs first met in the 1963 National Invitation Tournament and the result was a 70-64 victory by PC. Â The teams would cross paths four years later in the same event and a slim 81-80 Marquette overtime win helped the squad to a runner-up finish under head coach Al McGuire. Â
  Â
Since the teams began meeting in BIG EAST Conference action, series highlights include a game delayed at the Bradley Center when a bat continued to interrupt play on the court, a record-tying 52-point performance by Markus Howard in 2017-18 at Providence and multiple overtime results.
  Â
The Friars swept the home-and-home series in 2019-20, including a narrow 81-80 decision in overtime at Fiserv Forum, after the Golden Eagles had done the same the previous campaign.
Marquette Has Faced League's Best
  Â
The BIG EAST is one of the toughest leagues in the nation and Marquette's early schedule has been as difficult as any for a conference program.
  Â
Of the team's six outings, five have come against teams currently at the top of the standings, which as a group owns a combined BIG EAST record of 21-6.  Included in those games are matchups with top-10 programs Creighton and Villanova.
