MILWAUKEE — The Marquette University men's basketball team fell 68-61 to DePaul on Saturday night at Fiserv Forum.
D.J. Carton scored 14 of his career-high 23 points in the second half, but it ultimately wasn't enough as MU's comeback attempt fell short. Jamal Cain and Koby McEwen scored eight points apiece while Theo John tallied four points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Marquette (8-7, 4-5 BIG EAST) trailed 30-24 at halftime and by as many as 13 points in the second half before going on a 22-9 run to take a 56-54 lead with 3:49 remaining.
The Blue Demons (3-5, 1-5 BIG EAST)Â responded with a 14-5 run in the final 2:55 to earn their first conference victory.
Charlie Moore led DePaul with 21 points, including a perfect 10-for-10 night at the free throw line. Javon Freeman-Liberty had 19 points while Darious Hall chipped in eight points and seven boards.
