
XC heads to Illini Open for Regular Season Finale

The Golden Eagles compete in Illini Open for first time since 2018
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete at the Illini Open for their last regular season meet on Friday, Oct. 22.
The meet will take place at the University of Illinois Arboretum course. Races will begin at 3 p.m. CT with the women's 6k race, followed by the men's 8k race.
This will be the men's and women's final tune-up before the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships next week.
LAST TIME OUT:
The Golden Eagles are coming off a record setting performance at the Bradley "Pink" Classic, where the men and women combined to set 14 personal records.
The women placed 10th of 37 teams in the women's 6k "red" race and the men finished 21st of 31 teams in the men's 8k "red" race at Newman Golf Course.Â
The women had two runners finish in the top-50 of 248 participants. Junior Kendall Pfrimmer led the way for the MU women coming in 32nd and set the best 6k time of her career with a time of 21:43.4. Sophomore Kate Jochims followed with a time of 21:56.6 and took 46th overall.Â
On the men's side, freshman Dan Weizeorick paced the men with a time of 25:15.0 to finish 72nd. Fellow freshman David Zeller finished four seconds behind Weizeorick, 87th overall, and set a personal-best with a time of 25:18.9.Â
UP NEXT:
Both teams will prepare for the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships in Carmel, Indiana on Friday, Oct. 29.
