Regular season begins Nov. 9 against SIUE
The Marquette University men's basketball team begins its 2021-22 campaign with an exhibition matchup against Bowie State on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. CT at Fiserv Forum.

Last season was canceled for Bowie State due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Bulldogs are returning seven players from their 2019-20 roster. Bowie State went 16-13 that season, losing in the first round of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Tournament to Livingstone College.

The Bulldogs are coming off an 88-67 loss against Howard University on Monday.

SHAKA SMART, 10 PLAYERS SET TO MAKE DEBUT

Shaka Smart will make his head coaching debut for the Golden Eagles on Thursday after amassing a 272-142 regular-season record over the course of his 12-year head coaching career at VCU and Texas.

Freshmen Kam Jones, Emarion Ellis, Stevie Mitchell, Cameron Brown, David Joplin and Keeyan Itejere and transfers Olivier-Maxence Prosper, Tyler Kolek, Darryl Morsell and Kur Kuath are also set to put on the Blue & Gold for the first time.

FANS RETURN TO FISERVÂ FORUM

The men's basketball team will play in front of fans without restrictions at Fiserv Forum for the first time since Feb. 29, 2020. There were 1,800 students, family of players and coaching staff, athletics department personnel and donors allowed at last season's regular-season finale, but now tickets will be available to the general public.

WELLS FACES ALMA MATER

Men's basketball video coordinator Dayshawn Wells graduated from Bowie State in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism.
Â
Wells was also on the men's basketball team from 2015 to 2018. He was a team captain as a senior, making 28 starts for the Bulldogs. Wells helped Bowie State to a CIAA title in 2017 and a CIAA Regular Season Championship in 2015.
