Golden Eagles return home Nov. 27 against NIU

The Marquette University men's basketball team (5-1) dropped a 70-54 to No. 22/24 St. Bonaventure (5-0) Sunday night in the championship game of the 2021 Shriners Children's Charleston Classic.

Forward Justin Lewis collected his third double-double of the season with a 17-point, 11-rebound effort.

The Golden Eagles trailed by eight points at the intermission after shooting just 30.0 percent from the floor. Lewis led the way in scoring and rebounding, collecting 11 points and seven boards in 17 minutes of action.

Notables:

Lewis was named to the all-tournament team
Freshman David Joplin scored a season-high 10 points
Marquette started the season 5-0 for the first time since 2011-12, when the team won its first 10 games of the season.
The Golden Eagles entered the day one of just five teams in the country to win at least its first five games of the season, joining Duke, Iona, San Francisco and Weber State
