Golden Eagles back in action Tuesday night vs. Jackson State
MILWAUKEE - Marquette University men's basketball defeated the Northern Illinois Huskies, 80-66, at Fiserv Forum on Saturday.Â
Justin Lewis paced Marquette (6-1, 0-0 BIG EAST) with 15 points and six rebounds, while Stevie Mitchell added 11 points on 4-for-5 shooting.
The Golden Eagles shot 51.9% from the field in the contest and received 35 points from the bench.
For NIU (1-5, 0-0 MAC), Keshawn Williams led with 17 points while Kaleb Thornton totaled 12 points and a game-high seven assists.

- The Golden Eagles participated in Nike's N7 Initiative on Saturday, wearing turquoise jerseys and shorts in recognition of Native American Heritage Month.
- MU head coach Shaka Smart and Northern Illinois head coach Rashon Burno each served as assistants under Billy Donovan at Florida earlier in their careers. Additionally, Huskies DOBO Matt Fleming worked for Shaka Smart during his stint at VCU.
- Marquette moves to 7-2Â all-time against the Huskies. The last NIU win in the series came in 1985.

- Oso Ighodaro tied his career high for points with seven in his 18Â minutes.
- MU guard Tyler Kolek contributed 10 points and a team-high five assists.
- Mitchell shot 4-for-5 from the field and added four rebounds and four assists in a career-high 24 minutes.
- Northern Illinois guard Trendon Hankerson totaled a team-high five rebounds, four steals and three blocks in the game in addition to eight points.
