MILWAUKEE - Jordan King scored a game-high 18 points and the Marquette women concluded non-conference play with a 60-49 win over Cincinnati on Wednesday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center.
The Golden Eagles (9-3) used a 10-0 run in the third quarter to pull away for the victory while shooting 8-of-17 in the frame. In addition to King's 18 points, Lauren Van Kleunen added 13 and Liza Karlen had 10.Â
"We're just excited to get a win before the Christmas break," Marquette head coach Megan Duffy said. "I'm really proud of a lot of different people stepping up today. When Jordan King got a couple of fouls and we had to take her out, and Karissa McLaughlin went out with an injury, I thought our entire collective group rose up together and gutted it out."
Cincinnati (7-5) was held to 29.7 percent (19-of-64) shooting from the floor and was led by guard Akira Levy's 14 points.
Van Kleunen had nine of MU's 46 rebounds on the afternoon as the Golden Eagles held a 10-rebound margin on the glass.
