2/12/2021 10:14:00 AM | Men's Basketball
FS1 features 2 p.m. CT broadcast
The Marquette University men's basketball team (9-11, 5-9 BIG EAST) continues its road swing at Seton Hall (11-8, 8-5 BIG EAST) on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. CT from the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. FS1 will feature the television broadcast, with Kevin Burkhardt (play-by-play) and Steve Lavin (analyst) calling the action. Following Sunday's outing, the Golden Eagles will head to Butler on Feb. 17 before beginning a currently scheduled 10-day break.
Series With Pirates Dates Back To 1956
The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series with Seton Hall, 19-12, with all but one of the matchups coming after MU joined the BIG EAST Conference in 2005-06.
SHU opened the series with a 96-78 victory over Marquette on March 17, 1956 in MU's first-ever appearance in the National Invitation Tournament in New York. The next meeting wouldn't come until 50 years later when Marquette moved to the BIG EAST.
After SHU's 70-63 victory on Dec. 17 at Fiserv Forum, the Pirates have now claimed five-straight wins over the Golden Eagles.
Upcoming Schedule Provides Rare Challenge
When the BIG EAST schedule was originally announced, Marquette knew it would have a challenging conclusion to the league schedule, with four of six outings scheduled on the road.
With the move of the Feb. 20 home contest against St. John's to Jan. 31 and a road game at Villanova changed to Feb. 10, Marquette now continues its five-game road swing at Seton Hall on Feb. 14. The Golden Eagles will go an entire month between home games, not returning to Fiserv Forum until March 6 against Xavier on Senior Day/National Marquette Day.
Marquette hasn't played five straight on the road since the 1980-81 campaign and the team went 3-2 in those outings. Since the program began league affiliation in 1989-90, the team has never played five-consecutive games outside of Milwaukee in conference action.
