#MUWBB Goes for Five Straight Wins Wednesday Night

The Golden Eagles are looking for their 11th road win of the season
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette women's basketball team travels to take on No. 24/23 DePaul on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. Central time on FloHoops. Matt Rodewald (play-by-play) and Patricia Babcock McGraw (analyst) will be on the call.

The Golden Eagles (16-4, 13-3 BIG EAST) have gone 4-0 with wins over Butler, Creighton, Providence and Villanova after coming off their most challenging weekend of the season in which they faced then No. 3/5 UConn and No. 20/21 DePaul in a three-day span. MU fell to the Huskies, 87-58, and to the Blue Demons, 87-82.

MU is anchored by seniors Selena Lott (15.0 ppg.) and Lauren Van Kleunen (13.0 ppg.) and returned eight contributors from last season. This includes BIG EAST All-Freshman Team selection Camryn Taylor, who's averaging 11.2 points and a team-best 6.9 rebounds.

MU has typically gone with a nine-player rotation this season with sophomore Jordan King (9.7 ppg.) and Chloe Marotta (6.6 reb.) joining the starters. Claire Kaifes, Liza Karlen, Taylor Valladay and Antwainette Walker all play between 8-20 minutes per game.

Lott has developed into one of the top all-around players in the country in 2020-21. She leads the team in scoring, assists, steals, blocks and free throw percentage. She ranks in the top 10 individually in the BIG EAST in seven statistical categories.

DePaul (13-5, 10-3 BIG EAST) is coming off a loss on Saturday to Creighton. The Blue Demons were held to 38 percent shooting from the floor while the Bluejays hit a season-best 58 percent of their shots. The winner of this game between MU and DPU will have the inside track to the No. 2 seed in next weekend's BIG EAST tournament in Uncasville, Conn.

• The Marquette women's basketball team defeated Creighton 65-41 on Monday evening at the Al McGuire Center. With the win, MU clinches a top three seed at next week's BIG EAST tournament.
• Redshirt senior Lauren Van Kleunen scored a game-high 20 points while fellow senior Selena Lott once again filled the box score with 10 points, 11 assists and six steals to lead the Golden Eagles (16-4, 14-3 BIG EAST) to their fourth straight victory. Camryn Taylor joined the senior pair in double figures with 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds, narrowly missing her third double double of the season.
SCOUTING THE BLUE DEMONS – ALL-TIME SERIES
• DePaul is led by 35th-year head coach Doug Bruno. Under his watch, the Blue Demons have won over 730 games. DU earned an automatic berth in the 2020 NCAA tournament for after winning its fifth BIG EAST tournament crown in the last seven years. They have earned a bid 18 years in a row.
• DePaul's potential game-breaking performer is Sonya Morris (18.9 points a game). The Blue Demons have three other double-figure scorers including Lexi Held (16.2 points a game), Dee Bekelja (14.3) and Deja Church (12.7).
• The Blue Demons lead the all-time series 48-29 against the Golden Eagles. However, MU has won three of the past seven matchups, including a 90-83 win on senior day last year. Lauren Van Kleunen and Selena Lott combined for 42 points in the win over No. 16/15 DePaul.
• Eight days later, DePaul returned the favor with an 88-74 win in the BIG EAST tournament final.

• LVK was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Feb. 8 after averaging 19.5 points and five rebounds in games against No. 3/5 UConn and No. 20/21 DePaul.
• Turning it up a notch: Over her last six games, LVK is averaging 15.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists on 57.1% (40/70) shooting from the floor. This includes two 20+ point efforts and five games in double figures.

• The BIG EAST Women's Basketball Tournament presented by Jeep will be played at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., from March 6-9.
• The agreement spans three years and includes the 2021, 2022 and 2023 postseasons.
• Mohegan Sun Arena is a 10,000-seat venue located in southeastern Connecticut which features year-round entertainment.
• The past seven BIG EAST Women's Basketball Tournaments have been played in the Midwest, including the past three years at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
