Series With DePaul Dates Back To 1917-18
Marquette's all-time series with DePaul dates back to the 1917-18 season (second year of MU's varsity competition) and includes 128 previous meetings.
The Golden Eagles own a 79-49 advantage in the series and have claimed seen of the last 10 matchups, but the Blue Demons have earned wins in the last two matchups. The extensive series history has been aided by the fact the two programs have been in the same league dating back to the 1991-92 campaign. Since that season, the teams have shared affiliation in the Great Midwest Conference, Conference USA and BIG EAST Conference.
In program history, Marquette has faced only rival Wisconsin (127) on as many occasions.
Lewis' Return Bolsters Bench Production
Freshman Justin Lewis missed a majority of the team's previous seven games with an ankle injury before returning at UConn and as a result the team's bench production received a much-needed boost.
During his absence, the reserves contributed just 8.1 points per contest, including a trio of games with three-or-less points scored. Lewis chipped in 14 points of his own on Saturday afternoon and the four players to see action off the bench accounted for 25 total points. Guard Symir Torrence was 3-of-5 from the floor and added seven points in 12 minutes of action, marking his season-best contribution and most since scoring six points on Nov. 27 against Eastern Illinois.
