Carton carries offense in second half
The Marquette University men's basketball team (12-13, 7-11 BIG EAST) pulled away for a 77-71 win at DePaul (4-13, 2-13 BIG EAST) in Wintrust Arena Tuesday night.

Sophomore guard D.J. Carton scored 17 of his 20 points in the second half and added seven rebounds and freshman Dawson Garcia added 12 points. Senior forward Jamal Cain also had nine points and nine rebounds. Defensively, Marquette held DePaul to 41 percent from the floor.

Freshman Justin Lewis, who was limited to just five minutes in the first half because of foul trouble made his first start of the season for Marquette, replacing Theo John (non-Covid illness). The Golden Eagles started the game 7-o-11 from the floor and lead by as many as nine points (18-9) before the Blue Demons closed the gap and eventually took a 36-32 advantage.

The Golden Eagles, who concluded a six-game, month-long road swing with Tuesday's action, return to Fiserv Forum on Saturday, March 6 to host Xavier at 8 p.m. CT on Senior Night and National Marquette Day @ Home.
