Marquette opens play at BIG EAST tourney on Wednesday
The Marquette University men's basketball team (13-13, 8-11 BIG EAST) concluded the 2020-21 regular season Saturday night against Xavier (13-6, 6-6 BIG EAST) at Fiserv Forum with a 66-59 victory.

The Golden Eagles have earned the No. 9 seed in the 2021 BIG EAST Tournament presented by Jeep and will face No. 8 seed Georgetown at 2 p.m. CT on Wednesday, March 10.

Guard D.J. Carton led four players in double figures with 16 points and guard Greg Elliott chipped in 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting.

A three-pointer by Elliott gave Marquette a 32-24 advantage at the intermission and the Golden Eagles led by as many as 10 points in the first half. MU shot 53.8 percent from the floor and held the Musketeers to just 33.3 percent.Â
