Mixed Results For MU In League Tourney
  Â
Marquette has advanced to at least the league tourney quarterfinals every season since joining the BIG EAST in 2005-06, the longest current run by any program in the conference.
  Â
The Golden Eagles are 12-14 all-time in the BIG EAST Tournament and 24-29 in postseason events since joining a league for the first time in 1989-90.  MU has made a total of three trips to the semifinals, including in 2019 against Seton Hall (L, 81-79). The
Golden Eagles were defeated in 2010 by Georgetown, 80-57, and Pittsburgh, 68-61, in 2008.
Defense, Balanced Scoring Key Recent Key
  Â
The Golden Eagles have been victorious in four of the team's last five outings, thanks in large part to balanced scoring on the offensive end and an improved effort defensively.
  Â
Since the team's win over Butler on Feb. 17, Marquette's roster features seven players contributing five-or-more points per game, led by freshman Dawson Garcia (15.4 ppg.).  MU has featured multiple starting lineup combinations as well, providing increased bench scoring and the team as a whole is shooting 46.8 percent from the floor.
  Â
Defensively, Marquette has held opponents to just 25.0 percent (27-of-108) shooting from behind the 3-point line and is creating an average of 11.2 turnovers-per-outing. Â The team is also winning the battle on the boards, especially at the defensive end.
