Marquette back in action Friday afternoon at Notre Dame
The Marquette University men's tennis team (5-4) defeated Eastern Illinois (2-7) on Saturday afternoon at Helfaer Tennis Stadium, downing the Panthers 7-0.

The Golden Eagles opened the match by claiming the doubles point, earning wins at the No. 1 and 2 positions. Shaddy Khalafallah and Rami Scheetz clinched the point with a 6-2 decision at No. 2.

MU pushed ahead 3-0 after quick victories by both Stefan Dragovic and Luis Heredia Gomez, playing at No. 3 and 2, respectively.

Fran San Andres, playing just his second career match at No. 1, clinched the team victory with a 7-5, 6-1 decision over EIU's Leighton Brandon. San Andres improved to 6-0 in dual action this spring with the win.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, March 19 at Notre Dame. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m. CT and the matchup will be the first between the two programs since 2013 when they were both members of the BIG EAST Conference.
