Golden Eagles Return Home To Host DePaul Thursday
The Marquette University women's soccer team (4-2-0, 2-2-0 BIG EAST) dropped a 3-0 decision at Creighton (1-4-0, 1-3-1 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon in BIG EAST Conference action.
Â
Marquette's offensive attack collected just five total shots, including one on goal, and was shutout for the second time this season. Netminder Lauren Schill finished with a season-high six saves on the day.
"We ran into a buzz saw today," head coach Frank Pelaez said. "Every opportunity we compete in BIG EAST play is a chance to learn and get better. I am proud of the way our team fought today and we will re-group and get ready for the next match."
Â
The Golden Eagles fell behind 1-0 at the 11:15 mark when a shot from inside the box by Creighton's Skylar Heinrich deflected off Schill and snuck inside the near post.
Â
Early in the second half the Bluejays moved ahead 2-0 after converting on a penalty kick in the 49th minute. After drawing a MU foul in the box, CU's Aida Kardovic placed a perfectly placed shot into the upper left corner of the net.
Â
Creighton would add one more at the 63:18 mark to conclude the day's scoring.
