
Second round halted at Windon Memorial with MU in third

GLENCOE, Illinois – The Marquette University men's golf team is three strokes off the lead, and Hunter Eichhorn is one stroke back individually, with second round action halted at the Windon Memorial Classic at Lake Shore Country Club.
The Golden Eagles are one of five teams who were not able to finish play on Monday evening due to sunset and are 7-under par, trailing Notre Dame at 10-under and South Florida at 9-under.
Eichhorn sits in a tie for second with three other players at 5-under par and is even through 13 holes in the second round after beginning his day with a 5-under 66 first round. The Carney, Michigan native is the defending champion of the event and was alone in first place at the conclusion on Monday's opening round. He posted four birdies in the first round with an eagle on the par-5 13th hole, before ending his round with a bogey on the par-4 18th.
He had a birdie going into the turn on No. 9 in his second round and a bogey going back out on No. 10.
Freshman Max Lyons was inside the top 20 with an opening-round 68 that featured five birdies, but has recorded a pair of doubles in his second round to fall back into a tie for 39th. Including his first round and 13 holes in the second he's 1-over par for the tournament.
Redshirt junior Tyler Leach also had five birdies in Monday's opening round and is currently MU's No. 2 in a tie for 20th at 1-under par. He's through 15 holes of the second round.
Nicolas Evangelio is tied for 29th at even par (through 14 holes in the second round), while Aidan Lafferty is tied for 66th at 6-over par (through 16).
The conclusion of the second round will take place at 7:30 a.m. Central time on Tuesday morning with third round action set to begin at 8:15 a.m. CT.
Eichhorn won the previous event in 2019 after shooting a 6-under 207 at Conway Farms. The then-junior shot a 6-under 65 with eight birdies and a bogey-free 5-under 66 through the first two rounds.
The Golden Eagles also won the Windon Memorial as a team back in 2018 behind a third-place finish from Oliver Farrell at 7-under par, and Tyler Leach's even-par performance. In 2007 at Lake Shore, MU All-American Mike Van Sickle shared medalist honors with a 7-under 206.
Past winners and runners-up of the tournament include Tiger Woods, Casey Martin, Luke Donald, Hunter Mahan and Scott Harrington.
