
MU XC Prepares for Live in Lou Classic

The Golden Eagles travel to Louisville for the 20th annual Live in Lou Classic
MILWAUKEEÂ - The Marquette University men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete in their third meet of the 2021 season on Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Live in Lou Classic in Louisville, Kentucky
The meet will begin at 8:30 a.m. CT with the men's 8k race, the women's 5k race will follow. The meet will take place at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.Â
This will be Marquette's eighth time competing at the Live in Lou Classic, the first time since 2019. In 2019, the MU men finished sixth and the women took fifth in Louisville.
LAST TIME OUT:
In MU's last meet hosted by Illinois State University at Weibring Golf Club on Sept. 17, the women took sixth and the men finished in seventh place.
In the women's 6k race, Kate Jochims recorded her second top-25 finish of the year coming in 22nd-place. Junior Kendall Pfrimmer didn't finish far behind coming in 26th-overall. Junior Emily Noone finished 58th-overall. Laurel Moneysmith (22:27.2) and Mallory Lafever (23:12.1) set new personal records and finished 36th and 68th, respectively, to round out Marquette's top-five runners.
Marissa Valentini (23:41.7), Audrey Grimm (24:10.6), Lexi Keppler (25:22.8), and Gretchen Pfeiffer (27:13.0) all set personal records at the Redbird Invite.
Freshman Dan Weizeorick paced the Golden Eagles coming in 34th-overall and setting a new personal record with a time of 25:37.3. Patrick Hetlage, in his first race after a long layoff due to injury, set a new personal record as well with a time of 25:42.0 to take 41st-place. David Zeller finished two spots behind Hetlage to finish 43rd. Jordan Janusiak shortly followed to finish fourth for the MU men and 48th overall.
August Beyer (51st), Zak Kindl (59th), and Jadon Conroy (64th) completed Marquette's top-seven runners.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:
Freshman Dan Weizeorick: "There's going to be a lot of good teams there, and I've heard the course is really fast. I'm hoping we can all run our best times so far and it should be a lot of fun."
Senior Zak Kindl: "As a team, I thought we did a great job last time working together and running together. I thought we had a great pack mentality. I think just to work off each other more in future races because I think that helped a lot of guys run well."
