
Golf places 14th at Marquette Intercollegiate

ERIN, Wisconsin – The Marquette University men's golf team placed 14th in the 2021 Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills after Tuesday's third round concluded the annual event.
Thunderstorms delayed final round action at 11 a.m. and play did not resume until 12:45 p.m. When it did, Texas A&M rolled on its way to its second team title at Erin Hills with a tournament-record 32-strokes-under par 832. The Aggies were led by medalist Walker Lee, whose 14-under 202 broke the individual mark in the event by four strokes. He finished one ahead of East Tennessee State's Mats Ege at 13-under and two in front of UC Davis' Thomas Hutchinson. A&M also won the team title at the Marquette Intercollegiate in 2017.
Freshman Max Lyons led the Golden Eagles in the three-day event with a 2-under 214, while redshirt senior Hunter Eichhorn posted even-par 72s on the last two days to close out play with a 1-under 215. Eichhorn earned medalist honors at the Marquette Intercollegiate last season with a 7-under 209. Tyler Leach (4-over 220), Josh Robinson (8-over 224) and Nicolás Evangelio (9-over 225) rounded out MU's lineup.
Marquette's individuals faired well this week with Bhoom Sima-Aree leading the way in a tie for 39th with an even-par 216. Freshman Patrick Adler made an impressive collegiate debut and tied Eichhorn for the team lead on the final day with an even-par 72. The Loyola Academy product concluded the event with a 1-over 217.
Minnesota's Connor Glynn ended his final round on Tuesday with an ace on the par-3 ninth hole.
The Golden Eagles resume fall competition on Sept. 12-13 in Maple Plain, Minnesota at the University of Minnesota's Gopher Invitational at Windsong Farm Golf Club.Â
