
Leach Tied for Fifth at Cal Poly Inviational

The Golden Eagles are in third after two rounds
CARMEL, California – The Marquette University men's golf team is in third place after two rounds of play in the Cal Poly Invitational at The Preserve Golf Course.
The Golden Eagles were tied for first place as a team at 10-under par (277) after the first round of play Monday morning. MU would go on to shoot an even par (288) in round two to finish the day at 10-under par (566) going into Tuesday's final round.
Tyler Leach leads MU after the first two rounds of play after posting back-to-back rounds of 3-under par (69). Leach made eight birdies and only two bogies through 36-holes. He is tied for fifth overall at 6-under par going into the final round.
Nicolás Evangelio posted his lowest round of the season with a 4-under par 68 and rolled in seven birdies during the round. Evangelio would follow up with a second-round 1-under 71 to put him at 5-under par for the tournament and tied for 10th.
Sophomore Max Lyons posted a first-round 3-under par 69 to record his fifth round in the 60s this season. Lyons is even par after 36-holes and tied for 29th.
Northwestern leads the tournament at 26-under par (278-272—550). Round three is a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. CT.
