Golden Eagles head to Purdue Tuesday Night
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's basketball team (2-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) won in dominating fashion, 97-73, against Central Michigan (0-1, 0-0 MAC) on Thursday night in non-conference action at the Al McGuire Center.
Thursday's outing marked the first game on campus since the 2018 National Invitation Tournament and featured a capacity student-only crowd of nearly 4,000.
Forward David Joplin led the game with a career-high 23 points (8-of-12 FG), including six 3-pointers. The last player to have at least five treys off the bench was Kam Jones against Georgetown (2/16/22) last season. Joplin helped MU earn 56 points off the bench.
MU shot 53 percent (26-of-58) from the field. Caleb Kozinski, Jonah Lucas, Michael Kennedy and RJ Walson all saw their first action of the year.Â
Brian Taylor led the way for the Chippewas with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Central Michigan shot 44 percent on 26-of-58 shooting.
