Golden Eagles conclude tourney play Wednesday night
The Marquette University men's basketball team (3-2, 0-0 BIG EAST) opened play at the Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off with a 58-55 loss against Mississippi State (5-0, 0-0 SEC) Thursday night.

Guard Tyler Kolek led the way with 16 points and Kam Jones chipped in 14 points.Â

MU trailed by as many as 10 points in the first half and battled back to lead by as many as four midway through the second stanza. The defensive effort was impressive the entire evening, holding the Bulldogs to just 36.0 percent from the floor and forcing 16 turnovers.

Marquette's offensive attack struggled for a majority of the first half, but the team trailed just 23-17 despite shooting 30.4 percent from the floor overall and 14.3 percent from long distance. Kam Jones led the way with seven points.
