Golden Eagles open four-game homestand vs. Cougars
The Marquette University men's basketball team (4-2, 0-0 BIG EAST) returns to Fiserv Forum on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 7:30 p.m. CT against Chicago State (2-5) to open a season-long four-game homestand. FS2 features the national television broadcast, with Joshua Sims (play-by-play) and Dickey Simpkins (analyst) calling the action. Following Saturday's outing, Marquette hosts No. 7/7 Baylor on Tuesday night in the Big 12-BIG EAST Battle series.
Marquette Owns Series Advantage Over CSU
Marquette is 8-0 all-time against Chicago State, most recently posting a 95-69 victory over the Cougars on Nov. 29, 2017 at the Bradley Center.
The series dates back to the 1989-90 campaign and each of the eight outings have come in Milwaukee. Bo Ellis, the only Marquette player to appear in two national title games (claimed 1977 title), was head coach at CSU for five seasons (1998-2003).
Kam Jones Naed To All-Tourney Team
Marquette guard Kam Jones was the lone Golden Eagle named to the Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off All-Tournament Team after helping the team to a third-place finish on Wednesday.
The Memphis, Tennessee, native averaged 16.5 points per game in a pair of outings, shooting 46.2 percent from the field and also chipped in 1.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest.
Jones has reached double figures in points in 5-of-6 outings in 2022-23, after scoring 10-or-more points just seven times in 32 appearances in 2021-22.
Kolek Finds Shooting Touch In Florida
Guard Tyler Kolek shot just 33.3 percent from the floor overall and 27.3 percent from long distance through the first four games, but fortunately for Marquette he was able to find his shooting touch in Fort Myers.
The Cumberland, R.I., native combined to shoot 55.0 percent (11-of-20) from the floor overall and 5-of-9 (55.6 percent) from behind the 3-point line. He averaged 15.0 points per contest and also chipped in 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest in just over 30 minutes per night.
