Golden Eagles conclude non-league play Sunday at Notre Dame
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's basketball team (7-3, 0-0 BIG EAST) defeated NC Central (5-5, 0-0 MEAC ), 90-78, for its final non-conference game at home on Tuesday night at Fiserv Forum.
MU was led by the junior forward duo of Olivier-Maxence Prosper and Oso Ighodaro. Prosper notched 25 points, shooting 11-of-14 with four boards. Ighodaro contributed a career-high seven assists, to go with 10 points on a perfect shooting night (5-of-5) and added three blocks.
The Golden Eagles shot 63.2 percent from the field and forced 18 turnovers on the night.
NC Central was led by Justin Wright, scoring 18 points on 5-of-13. Brendan Medley-Bacon had 16 points on 5-of-5 shooting and seven rebounds.
Notables:
- MU claimed the lone previous meeting with a nine point victory on Dec. 29 2021 at the Bradley Center.
- Olivier-Maxence Prosper saw double figures in points within four minutes of the game.
- Prosper led all scores at halftime with 14 points shooting 6-of-7 from the field.
- Ighodaro had five assists at halftime, to combine for his career-high.
- Marquette shot 75.9 percent (22-of-29) in the first half, it's best mark since 72.4 percent against Western Carolina on Nov. 30, 2016.
- Freshman guard Chase Ross has now scored eight points in four of the last five outings.
