Golden Eagles and Hoyas set for Friday night meeting in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Marquette women's basketball team (17-8, 10-6 BIG EAST) plays part two of a four-game road trip this weekend, traveling to Washington, D.C. to take on Georgetown (7-15, 2-12 BIG EAST) on Friday evening. The Golden Eagles and Hoyas will tip-off at 6 p.m. (CT) at McDonough Arena. The game will be broadcast by BEDN on FloHoops with Meghan McPeak (play-by-play) and Kim Adams (analyst) on the call. The Golden Eagles enter the contest 17-8 on the year with a 10-6 mark in BIG EAST play to sit fifth in the league standings. After winning six-straight games, MU has suffered three-straight losses, most recently falling 77-66 at RV DePaul on Wednesday night.
Currently in 10th place in the BIG EAST, the Hoyas hold a 7-15 overall record with a 2-12 mark in conference play. Georgetown has dropped five-straight and 11 of its past 12 games. Most recently, the Hoyas suffered a 105-104 2OT loss to DePaul on Sunday afternoon.
In a series which Marquette has owned to the tune of a 23-4 overall record, the Golden Eagles have won nine straight and 13 of the past 14 against Georgetown. In the season's first matchup, Marquette's defense came up big in a 68-32 win at the Al McGuire Center on Jan. 14. Karissa McLaughlin dropped a game-high 21 points while knocking down seven 3-pointers.
Georgetown has been led this season by the guard duo of Milan Bolden-Morris and Kelsey Ransom, each averaging a team-best 12.9 points per game. Senior forward Jillian Archer averages 8.8 points and a team-high 7.5 boards per contest. The Hoyas are coached by James Howard, in his fifth season with the program.
SCOUTING THE HOYAS
• Georgetown enters Friday's matchup with an overall record of 7-15, including a 2-12 mark in BIG EAST play. It currently ranks 10th in the conference standings.
• The Hoyas are currently in the midst of a five-game losing streak after most recently falling 105-104 to DePaul in double overtime on Sunday. Georgetown has dropped six of its past seven home contests.
• GU has been led this year by the guard duo of graduate Milan Bolden-Morris and sophomore Kelsey Ransom, each averaging 12.9 points per game. Senior forward Jillian Archer trails closely behind with 8.8 points per game, while also averaging a team-best 7.5 rebounds.
• Georgetown ranks third in the league in turnovers forced (15.4) and rebounds (38.5) per game, and fourth in steals per contest with 8.0.
• Ransom leads the BIG EAST in steals per game with 2.67, while Bolden Morris is making a conference-best 2.91 3-pointers per contest.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS GEORGETOWN
• Friday's game will mark the 28th all-time meeting between Marquette and Georgetown, a series which began in 2006.
• The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series, 23-4, including wins in each of the past nine matchups.
• Marquette is 9-3 all-time against Georgetown in D.C.
• The teams faced off twice last season, Marquette earning a 72-40 win in Milwaukee and a 55-48 win in D.C.

• The Golden Eagles are 37-15 in conference action under Coach Duffy.
• Coach Duffy is off to the best coaching start through three seasons of any coach in program history. She boasts a 60-23 overall mark (.723) at Marquette.
• The Golden Eagles are 50-3 under Coach Duffy when leading at halftime and 35-3 when they turn the ball over the same or fewer times than their opponent.
• MU is 31-3 when scoring more than 70 points under Coach Duffy and 42-5 when shooting more free throws than its opponent.
• In the 83 games of the Coach Duffy era, the Golden Eagles have out-rebounded their opponent in 70 of those games.
EARLIER THIS SEASON
• Marquette and Georgetown matched up on Jan. 14 at the Al McGuire Center, a 68-32 win for the Golden Eagles.
• Karissa McLaughlin came out firing for 18 points on six made 3-pointers in the first half. She finished the game with 21 points and seven triples, one shy of typing the program's single-game record.
• The Marquette defense held Georgetown to 23.1 percent (12-of-52) shooting from the field, and forced 20 Hoya turnovers. Additionally, MU won the rebounding battle 51-33.
• The Golden Eagles held Georgetown to four points in the second quarter and closed out the first half on a 17-2 run to take a 25-point lead into the break.
• Georgetown was led by Kaliyah Myricks, who had six points and five rebounds.
MCLAUGHLIN FROM DEEP
• Karissa McLaughlin transferred to Marquette after climbing to the top of Purdue's all-time 3-point shooting leaderboard, and has made an impact from behind the arc for the Golden Eagles.
• The graduate guard is having one of the best 3-point shooting seasons in program history. She currently ranks second in the BIG EAST (32nd nationally) in 3-point percentage at 41.8 percent, and fourth in the league (47th nationally) with 2.4 triples per game.
• McLaughlin accounts for 72.6 percent of the team's made three's this year.
• 59.2 percent of her made shots this season have come behind the arc.
LAST TIME OUT
• Marquette lost its third-consecutive game on Wednesday night, dropping a 77-66 road decision against RV DePaul.
• The Blue Demons took control early behind 47 percent (7-of-15) shooting from deep in the first half. Marquette trailed 48-32 at the half, its largest halftime deficit of the season.
• The Golden Eagles made a late push, winning the fourth quarter 21-8, but the comeback attempt fell short.
• Antwainette Walker made a strong impact off the bench for MU, as the junior guard fell just shy of her first-career double-double. She finished with 12 points and a team-high nine boards before fouling out after 24 minutes of action.
• Marquette's scoring efforts were paced by Jordan King, who finished with 16 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists.
