Golden Eagles kick off BIG EAST play on Saturday

MILWAUKEE - Marquette University men's lacrosse fell to Air Force, 16-9, at Valley Fields on Saturday afternoon in its last non-conference game before BIG EAST Conference play.
Luke Blanc paced the Golden Eagles (2-6) with his first career hat trick, while Will Foster, Bobby O'Grady and Jake Stegman each added a goal and two assists. Michael Allieri stopped 10 shots in the cage, with Luke Williams winning 14-of-23 faceoffs for MU.
The Falcons (5-4) were led by Brandon Dodd's five goals, and Brenden Crouse put up two goals and four assists. Netminder Jason Rose totaled 13 saves and Braden Gaab and Brian Michael combined for 14 faceoff wins.

- Saturday's matchup was MU's last before BIG EAST action begins. Marquette's lone remaining out-of-conference contest is against Notre Dame, set for April 12 at 4 p.m. in Milwaukee.
- Blanc earned his first start of the year at midfield, joining Pierce Washburn and Chris Kirschner on the first line. The UMass transfer led the Golden Eagles in scoring on Saturday afternoon.
- Kelan Duff earned his second career start at close defense and played in his third game at MU.Â
- Defenseman Mason Woodward contributed seven ground balls and three caused turnovers on the day, both game highs.
- Graduate transfer Noah Lindner scored his first goal as a Golden Eagle in the fourth quarter, and SSDM Max Kruszeski added his first of the season minutes later.
