MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's lacrosse team heads Washington, D.C. for a Saturday matchup with No. 2 Georgetown at Cooper Field.
Face-off against the Hoyas is slated for 11 a.m. Central time and a live broadcast will air on the BIG EAST Digital Network through FloSports. Live statistics will be available on GUHoyas.com.
Following the matchup against the Hoyas, the Golden Eagles return to Milwaukee for Senior Day against Villanova on Saturday, April 23.
THE MATCHUP: The Golden Eagles and Hoyas have split the 10 meetings between the two programs, though GU captured both games last season. Seven of the 10 meetings have featured at least one of the teams ranked or receiving votes, while six of the games were decided by just one goal. Marquette is 2-3 in games played at Georgetown.
MU attackman Devon Cowan scored a career-high six goals in a two-goal loss to the Hoyas at home in 2021, and added a hat trick in the game in D.C.

MARQUETTE (4-7): The Golden Eagles fell 18-8 to No. 10 Notre Dame on Tuesday afternoon but sit at 2-0 in BIG EAST play after wins over Providence and a record-setting 23-13 triumph at St. John's on April 9.
Reigning BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week Bobby O'Grady had an MU-record eight goals in the win over the Red Storm and scored twice against the Fighting Irish. Cowan led MU with four goals against UND, while faceoff specialist Cole Emmanuel went 15-of-20 from the dot (.750) and picked up 10 ground balls in the first extended action of his Marquette career.
O'Grady currently leads MU with 36 goals and 40 points, and his goal mark is tied with Tyler Melnyk (2014) for the second-best single-season mark in MU history. Through 11 games, he is just four goals from Ryan McNamara's program record of 40 from 2016.
Face-off specialists Luke Williams and Thomas Washington each rank in the top four of the BIG EAST individually in winning percentage and MU's cumulative winning percentage of .591 (175-of-296) would rank as a single-season program record.
All-American defenseman Mason Woodward missed the first game of his Marquette career on Tuesday against the Irish. MU has missed much of its rotation for vast portions of this season and the Golden Eagles are still without fellow All-BIG EAST defenseman Zach Granger, attackmen Russell Melendez and Nolan Rappis and midfielders Griffin Fries, Anthony Courcelle and Hayden Miller.
GEORGETOWN (9-1): The Hoyas boast the nation's top scoring defense, limiting opponents to just 8.20 goals per game. Scoring at a 14.80 goals per game clip, GU is also second nationally in scoring margin at 6.60. Georgetown leads the BIG EAST and sits in the top-five of Division I in ground balls per game (fourth, 37.10/game) and faceoff winning percentage (fifth, 0.620).
Offensively, the Hoyas are led by Dylan Watson's 36 goals, while Graham Bundy Jr., has 40 points (27 goals, 13 assists) through 10 games. Alex Trippi also has scored 20 goals this season and TJ Haley has 19 assists.
Owen McElroy and Michael Scharfenberger are the BIG EAST's top two goalies in save percentage and Scharfenberger is 3-0 with starts in the last three games.
Georgetown owns victories over five nationally ranked teams this season and a lone loss to then-No. 18 Princeton, 10-8, at Cooper Filed on March 5. Most recently, the Hoyas have won league road games at then-No. 17 Denver, 17-9, on April 2 and an April 9 win at Providence, 15-5.
