O'Grady breaks MU's single-season goal mark, Allieri, the single-game saves record

WASHINGTON – Bobby O'Grady and Michael Allieri each set new program records as the Marquette University men's lacrosse team fell to No. 2 Georgetown, 20-10, on Saturday afternoon at Cooper Field.
O'Grady led the Golden Eagles (4-8, 2-1 BIG EAST) with five goals and broke Ryan McNamara's single-season scoring record (40 in 2016) with his 41st of the year at the 13:11 mark of the fourth quarter. It is the third time in as many BIG EAST Conference games that the freshman has posted at least five goals. He has 19 goals in three conference games this season and 41 overall in 12 contests.
Allieri made a Marquette-record 26 saves in the loss against one of the nation's highest-powered offenses, seeing 62 shots from the Hoyas in nearly 58 minutes of action. Devon Cowan and Pierce Washburn each scored twice for MU, while Cole Emmanuel scored his first career goal in NCAA Division I action and won 8-of-16 faceoffs.
Dylan Watson tied O'Grady for the game's goal lead with five for the Hoyas (10-1, 3-0 BIG EAST), while Jeremy Morin scored four times. Owen McElroy made 11 saves and allowed nine goals in 49 minutes between the pipes.

- O'Grady entered the day as the nation's highest-scoring freshman and was 11th overall in goals per game.
- Allieri has made 41 saves in two games this week against No. 10 Notre Dame (15) and the second-ranked Hoyas (26). Â
- Allieri broke MU's single-game record of 19 saves, recorded by Sean Richard last season at Providence and by former All-BIG EAST goalie Cole Blazer against Ohio State in 2017.
- Cowan has scored 12 goals in the last four games since returning from injury.
- Cowan has 13 goals against GU in three career games. Cowan scored a career-high six goals in a two-goal loss to the Hoyas at home in 2021, and added a hat trick in the game in D.C. last year.
- The Hoyas entered the game with the nation's top scoring defense, limiting opponents to just 8.20 goals per game.
- The teams battled to a 17-17 split in faceoff wins. Georgetown led the BIG EAST and sat in the top-five of Division I faceoff winning percentage (fifth, 0.620) entering Saturday.
- GU leads the all-time series 6-5 and has won the last three meetings. Marquette is 2-4 in games played at Georgetown.
- MU played another game without its two All-BIG EAST close defensemen, Zach Granger and Mason Woodward.
