NAPLES, Florida – Hunter Eichhorn posted a 1-under 71 to lead the Marquette University men's golf team in the first round at The Calusa Cup at Calusa Pines Golf Club in Naples, Florida.

The Golden Eagles sit seventh as a team at 4-over-par (292) after 18 holes, three strokes ahead of Iowa and four strokes in front of No. 21 Clemson. MU is two strokes behind No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 25 Purdue, who are tied for fifth at 2-over.

Eichhorn, who is tied for 14th individually, posted birdies on three of his first six holes and sat at 3-under heading into the final hole. He closed his day with a double bogey on No. 18.

Freshman Max Lyons notched a team-high five birdies on Sunday and is in a tie for 17th at even-par. Redshirt junior Tyler Leach carded a 2-over 74, while redshirt sophomore Josh Robinson shot a 3-over 75.

Teams tee off in the second round at 11 a.m. Central time on Monday.

Marquette placed ninth as a team in its most recent appearance in the event in 2021.
