Flando Named BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week

Allie Flando set multiple top-10 marks at last week's Wisconsin Classic
NEW YORK -Ā Marquette University graduate student Allie Flando is the BIG EAST Conference Field Athlete of the week, the league announced Tuesday afternoon. This is Flando's first time receiving the honor during the outdoor season and her second overall during the 2021-22 season.
The Avon, Ohio native recorded personal bests in the shot put and hammer throw at Friday's Wisconsin Classic. Flando posted the No. 9 mark in the shot put with a throw of 14.04 meters/46 feet, 0.75 inches. In the hammer throw, she set the 10th best mark in program history with a distance of 53.12 meters/174 feet, 3 inches. She now ranks in the top-5 in the conference in both the shot put (3rd) and hammer throw (5th).

Jesse Hamlin, Butler
Hamlin broke the Butler program record in the 800 meters, clocking in at 1:48.32 to win the race at the Billy Hayes Invitational on Friday. The time currently ranks as the fastest in the BIG EAST this season and No. 35 in NCAA Division I.

Litwin set a personal best and logged the second-best mark in the BIG EAST this season in the hammer throw. His toss of 60.47 meters came at the Wisconsin Classic on Friday.

Sierra Dinneen, Georgetown
Dinneen won the 800 meters at the Kehoe Twilight Meet with a time of 2:07.46. The finish currently ranks sixth in the BIG EAST this season.Ā

Flando recorded personal bests in both the shot put (14.04m) and the hammer throw (53.12m) at the Wisconsin Classic this past weekend. Both of her marks rank in the top-10 in program history. Her throw in the shot put ranks ninth-best and her mark in the hammer throw sits tenth-best in program history. Flando's marks in the shot put and hammer throw both rank in the top five in the BIG EAST this season.
