Eichhorn wraps second round play at NCAA Columbus Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Marquette University graduate student Hunter Eichhorn wrapped up his second round of action on Tuesday afternoon in the NCAA Columbus Regional with a 6-over 77 at Ohio State Golf Club's Scarlet Course.

Eichhorn is tied for 63rd in the regional with 151 total strokes at 9-over par (74-77--151) and is paired in Wednesday's final round with Markus Wilhelmsen of Southern Illinois and Penn State's Louis Olsakovsky. The trio will head off the first hole at 7:50 a.m. Central time.

He posted five bogeys on the front nine on Tuesday in addition to a birdie on the par-5 sixth hole. He made the turn at 4-over and added a pair of bogeys on the back nine on holes 13-14.

Eichhorn fired a 3-over 74 in his opening round on Monday. He began his round at 1-under through the first five holes after a birdie on the par-4 third hole. He made the turn at 2-over after bogeys on Nos. 6, 8 and 9 to close out the front nine. His second birdie of Monday came on the par-3 13th hole and he added a pair of bogeys on the back nine.

Eichhorn, the top-seeded individual in the region, is making his fourth appearance in an NCAA regional. He is the only MU golfer to compete in four NCAA regionals.

The top five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, from May 27-June 1, hosted by Arizona State and The Thunderbirds.
