Week-long road swing features Blue Demons and Butler
The Marquette University women's soccer team (4-3-1) opens BIG EAST Conference play Thursday afternoon when the squad travels to DePaul (2-5-0) for a 4 p.m. CT matchup at Wish Field.
Following Thursday's action, the Golden Eagles will head to Butler at 12 p.m. CT on Sunday, Sept. 25.
Familiar Foes Back On ScheduleÂ

Marquette owns an overall 18-6-2 advantage in the all-time series against DePaul, which dates back to 1996.

The Golden Eagles have won five of the last seven matchups (5-1-1), including a 2-1 victory last season on Senior Night. Â Elsi Twombly and Katrina Wetherall both netted first-half scores as Marquette rallied for the victory.

MU has dropped each of its last six outings against Butler and is 3-8-1 all-time in the series. Â Each of the last three setbacks have been 1-0 decisions.

The Golden Eagles are 9-9-0 in league action under third-year head coach Frank Pelaez, with the team narrowly missing a spot in the conference tourney in 2021.

Marquette wrapped up the non-conference portion of it schedule last Thursday night with a 2-0 victory at home over Western Michigan.

Sophomore Maggie Starker netted her first goal of the year in the opening minutes of action, and classmate Kate Gibson found the back of the net for the second time just before the conclusion of the first half.

In goal, Chloe Olson and Mikki Easter combined for the team's second shutout of the campaign.

Starker, the ninth player to score for Marquette this season, was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first time after scoring the game-winning goal.
MU Celebrates 30th BirthdayÂ

The Golden Eagles celebrate their 30th birthday in 2022, welcoming back former players to campus Oct. 13-16 for a reunion.

The program has collected nearly 400 wins during its tenure and participated in the NCAA tournament on 13 occasions. Â MU has claimed 10 regular season league titles in Conference USA and BIG EAST action and four conference tournament titles.

Individual success includes 119 all-conference honorees, 49 all-region selections, 19 national team appearances and 17 All-America accolades.Â
