#MUBB Rallies For 96-85 Win At St. John's

Marquette hosts Georgetown Saturday afternoon
The Marquette University men's basketball team (12-4, 4-1 BIG EAST) rallied for a 96-85 victory at St. John's (11-5, 1-4 BIG EAST) Tuesday night in BIG EAST Conference action.

Forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper scored 25 of his 29 points in the second half and Kam Jones chipped in 16 points to lead Marquette.

The Golden Eagles opened the second half with a 16-2 run and turned a seven-point deficit into a seven-point advantage in the opening five minutes. Prosper paced the team offensively with 11 quick points and MU held STJ to 1-of-7 from the floor to start the second half.

Marquette trailed 48-41 at the intermission after STJ shot 65.6 percent from the floor overall and netted 24 points in the paint. The defense was able to turn eight turnovers into 12 points and Kam Jones led eight players who scored with eight points.

Notables:
- Marquette's trip to Carnesecca Arena was its first since Jan. 16, 2021. Last season's matchup was cancelled due to Covid protocols within the STJ program.
- Prosper's 27Â points were his most since scoring 25 points against NC Central on Dec. 6.
- Tyler Kolek, who entered the game leading the BIG EAST in assists, finished with eight helpers
- Stevie Mitchell finished with 11Â points to reach double figures (scoring 19 at Villanova) in back-to-back games for the first time in his career.
