
WSOC Drops Tough 1-0 Decision at Providence

Golden Eagles continue road swing at Villanova on Sunday
The Marquette University women's soccer team (5-7-3, 2-3-1 BIG EAST) opened a two-match road swing Thursday night with a tough 1-0 setback against Providence (8-2-3, 3-0-3 BIG EAST) in BIG EAST Conference action.
The loss keeps Marquette in sixth place (seven points) in the league standings with St. John's, which is facing Butler (six points) Thursday night.
Netminder Mikki Easter finished with seven saves, including two diving efforts, but the Friars were able to touch home a shot from eight yards out in the 82nd minute for the lone score of the night. PC finished with a 15-6 advantage in shots, including an 8-3 difference in attempts on goal.
The match was knotted up at 0-0 at the intermission, with neither team creating a serious scoring opportunity. Easter collected four of her stops in the opening 45 minutes of action, including close-range header off a PC corner kick.
UP NEXT: The Golden Eagles return to action on Sunday, Oct. 15 when the team travels to Villanova to continue league play at 12 p.m. CT.
