Golden Eagles Return Home to Face St. Peter's Sunday, Nov 15 at 1pm CT
INDIANAPOLIS - The Marquette University women's basketball team stayed perfect on Wednesday night, beating IUPUI, 92-58, in the first road contest of the season.
The Golden Eagles (3-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) shot 52.2 percent from the floor and had five players score in double figures for the second time in as many games. Marquette has shot over 50 percent in the first three games of the season after hitting that mark three times all of last season.
After being up two after the first, MU outscored IUPUI 25-11 in the second quarter to take a 16-point lead into the half. IUPUI got the lead to single digits (48-39) with five minutes left in the third quarter, but a Rose Nkumu three-pointer got the lead back to double digits that stayed the rest of the game.
IUPUI (1-2, 0-0 HORIZON) was led by Talhia Walton who had 14 points and four rebounds. Katie Davidson, who had 32 points in their opener and 23 points at Ohio State, was held to just eight points.
