Golden Eagles Coming Off Tournament Win at Fort Myers Tip-Off
MILWAUKEE – The No. 23 Marquette University women's basketball team returns home to face Memphis this Wednesday, Nov. 29. Tipoff from the Al McGuire Center is at 7 p.m. Central time.
The Golden Eagles (6-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) are coming off a tournament title at the Fort Myers Tip-Off, beating Boston College and Arkansas in back-to-back days last Friday and Saturday.
Rose Nkumu was named tournament most valuable player after averaging 12.5 points, 5.5 assists and 2.5 steals through the two games. Liza Karlen was named to the all-tournament team after her 20-point, nine rebound performance in the title game.

SCOUTING TIGERS
• Memphis (2-4, 0-0 SEC) is coming off a 67-54 loss to Middle Tennesse in the Battle 4 Atlantis on Nov. 20 in the Bahamas.
• Two Tigers scored in double figures led by Kai Carter who had 16 points.
• Memphis took then No. 15 Tennessee to OT in Knoxville on Nov. 13.
• Madison Griggs leads the team averaging 14.3 points per game.
• Griggs was named to the preseason All-Conference First Team.
• The Tigers were picked to finish fifth in the AAC preseason poll.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST MEMPHIS
• Wednesday's matchup will be the 25th meeting all-time between Marquette and Memphis, both being former Conference USA members.
• Marquette leads the all-time series, 16-8.
• Last meeting came on Feb. 18, 2005, when Memphis beat Marquette 61-58 in Memphis.

• It's been almost a year to the date since MU has appeared in the AP Top 25. The Golden Eagles were No. 24 in the ranking released the week of No. 28, 2022.
• Marquette has appeared 51 times in the AP Top 25 poll in program history.
FORT MYERS TIP-OFF SHELL DIVISION CHAMPS
• Marquette beat Boston College and Arkansas in back-to-back days to win the Fort Myers Tip-Off Shell Division title over the weekend.
• It was the second holiday tournament win in the Megan Duffy era at Marquette, and ninth overall in the history of the program.
• The Golden Eagles won the Saint Mary's Thanksgiving Classic in November of 2019, going undefeated against Saint Mary's and Tulsa.
ROSE FORT MYERS TIP-OFF TOURNAMENT MVP
• Nkumu Averaged 12.5 points, 5.5 assists and 2.5 steals in wins against Boston College and Arkansas while playing 35 minutes a game.
• Had 14 points, seven assists and three steals in the title game.
• Drew 14 fouls over the two games, including nine in the semifinal vs Boston College.
• Nkumu is first in the BIG EAST in FG percentage (71.0) and 3-point percentage (75.0).
