Marquette opens league play Tuesday at Providence
MILWAUKEE – The No. 7/7 Marquette men's basketball team closed non-conference play Thursday night, beating St. Thomas 84-79 at Fiserv Forum.
The Golden Eagles (9-2, 0-0 BIG EAST) had five players in double figures for the first time this season, led by Oso Ighodoro who tied a season-high with 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting, his third 20-point game of the season.
Marquette had season-highs in free throws made (22) and free throw attempts (28) and had 19 assists on 27 field goals.
St. Thomas (6-5, 0-0 SUMMIT) had five in double figures led by Drake Dobbs who had 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting.

Marquette travels to play Providence on Dec. 19 at 7:30 P.M. CT to open BIG EAST play.

- Only the third time this season Marquette was outshot by its opponent. St. Thomas was 52.7 percent from the floor compared to MU's 50 percent.
- First double-double of the season for Tyler Kolek (12 points, 10 assists) and fifth of his career.
- Chase Ross scored in double figures for the fifth time this season (11 points) and eighth time of his career.
- Tyler Kolek had double-digit assists for the 11th time in his career.
- Marquette shot a season-best 63 percent in the first half (17-of-27).
- Marquette guard Stevie Mitchell (hamstring) missed his second straight game and sophomore guard Chase Ross made his second career start.
- St. Thomas' Ben Nau is a Brookfield, Wisconsin native and played at Brookfield Central with David Joplin
