O'Grady extends his scoring streak to 16 games with six goals

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's lacrosse team defeated Lindenwood, 17-2, on Saturday in its season opener on National Marquette Day at Valley Fields.
Preseason All-BIG EAST selection Bobby O'Grady got the Golden Eagles (1-0) rolling with four first quarter goals and added another in the second quarter to put MU up 9-1 at the half. The 2022 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year posted his game-high sixth goal in the third quarter of Lindenwood's NCAA Division I debut.
The MU defense only surrendered one goal to the Lions (0-1) in each half and the MU offense scored the final eight goals of each half. Ryan Kemp and Wesley Scurci were responsible for the pair of Lindenwood goals.
Freshman midfielder Andrew Bowman found the back of the net twice in the first half of his NCAA debut, while senior Jake Stegman added five points on two goals and three assists.
The Golden Eagles held a 40-30 edge in shots, picked up 37 ground balls to LU's 22 and won 17-of-23 faceoffs. MU's Cole Emmanuel won 9-of-11 draws on the day.

The Golden Eagles head to Salt Lake City on Saturday, Feb. 11 to take on the Utah Utes. The game begins at 1 p.m. CT.

- MU defenseman Mason Woodward recorded his third career goal and first since 2021. He finished with five ground balls and one caused turnover.
- Attackman Conor McCabe recorded his first career goal. He redshirted last season as a true freshman.
- MU goalie recorded Michael Allieri eight saves and surrendered only two goals.
- St. Bonaventure-transfer Jackson Rose found the net twice in his Marquette debut.
- Preseason All-BIG EAST LSM David Lamarca recorded a game-high six ground balls.
