Golden Eagles earn weekend sweep
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's tennis team (2-10) earns 6-1 decision over Eastern Illinois (3-4) Saturday afternoon, at Elite Sports Club – North Shore.
Marquette quickly took the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.
Five Golden Eagles posted points for MU in singles including Senior Rami Scheetz who clinched the team decision at No. 3 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
Senior Stefan Dragovic and freshman Thomas Nelson also earned points in straight set wins for Marquette at No. 1 and No. 4.
Ian Brady helped the Golden Eagles score a team point with a tie-break win at No. 5, 11-9 in set three.
Freshman Gui Da Matta earned his first collegiate win at No. 6, 7-6, 6-2.
UP NEXT: The Golden Eagles take on Rider University in a neutral site match in Orlando, FL, March 15.
