#MUBB Battles Back to Defeat St. John's 72-70 in Overtime

Golden Eagles advance to BIG EAST semifinals for fourth time
NEW YORK – The Marquette University men's basketball team (26-6, 17-3 BIG EAST) battled back in overtime to defeat St. John's (18-15, 7-13 BIG EAST) 72-70 in the quarterfinal round of the BIG EAST Tournament.
Guard Tyler Kolek led the way with 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists. The BIG EAST Player of the Year recorded all his points in the second half and overtime.
The Golden Eagles were able to fend off the Johnnies in the extra frame to seal the victory. Kolek scored seven of the team's 11 points in overtime.
MU quickly erased the double-digit deficit with a 12-2 run to open up the second period. The Golden Eagles and Red Storm exchanged leads throughout the half and needed additional time with both sides knotted up at 61 after 40 minutes.
St. John's led the Golden Eagles 36-26 at the intermission. St. John's built separation behind a 16-0 first half run. Forward David Jones paced the Red Storm with 12 first half points. Â
